Minister Noel Dempsey has recently accepted a proposition by the Road Safety Authority, banning excessively tinted car windows. Under these new rules it is outlined that a car will fail the NCT if it has a tinted windscreen or front-side windows with a light transmission level of less than 65%.
This basically means you are still free to tint your windows as dark as you like up to the drivers door. However, the front side doors can no longer be tinted with our dark tints. Light and Very light are still acceptable and will pass NCT Regulations.
